Lamenting Patriot

Oh dear motherland
I have escaped
Not because you didn’t have space for me
Nor did the smell and spice spite me

Oh dear mother, although you are pure,
My elder brothers are not so…
Air so heavy, leaves covered in dust
Fear of being stamped, or being surrounded by lust…
Has pushed me away from you, oh Mother..

But I can hear your voice and the troubled waters
Lashing at you, making you writhe in pain..
Don’t know, by hurting you, who’s to gain?

I am not the bravest of your daughters
Who will fight back on one drop of your blood
I have naïve eyes and an innocent heart
Not in your arms, but I will avenge your past

With knowledge that is free..Belief which is strong
Much before the revered lord, I will come

Maybe not to take the guns off your back
But, to get some of your lost glory back
Mere ailments make you seem weak
Which have been accentuated by dishonest freaks

Not so brave, but with power of the mind
Till my best I am going to try
So, many like me might not escape
In fear and shame, like I left!
