Being human?
Never
mind about my identity, my background and most importantly my picture. I am a
female. That should be enough to comprehend this piece of text. No, Not another
feminist who claims to delete men from the surface of the earth because she is
some victim of the highly overrated human emotion called love which has been reduced
to a mere act of hormonal overdose.
This
is about the more human side of the woman. Not humane. Yes I am talking about
the human. Yes, I am a biological being and not different from nature’s laws –
women are the limiting factor in the reproduction of human species. Millions of
sperms (embodied by their male figures) have to chase one egg (embodied by the
female counterpart) to successfully propagate. And this is exactly what men do
and it’s not even their fault. Then how are we superior from horses, dogs,
donkeys, and for that matter – rabbits!!!
We
claim to be (apparently) one of the more intelligent races and according to
books of ecology and evolution – humans are vested upon with some duties to
protect the so-called more unfortunate and vulnerable species of the earth. We
have higher analytical skills and are hence more in control. The best part is
humans are even biologically described as a monogamous species. LOL!
Isn’t
it amazing, we have defied everything mentioned above? Its not surprising that
some plain individuals have written these books to identify and segregate some
other more plain individuals as human beings. What happened to being
“thoughtful”?? Is it lost somewhere in the race of millions of sperms trying to
mate with one egg? Sex sells – in Bollywood, in Hollywood, at work places and
even in art!!! The feminine body – in other words – attracts those sperms to
even have a look at a creation. Either artistic or shock value – the feminine
features “sell” anything!
Still
we call ourselves “thinkers”. Doctors, engineers, Scientists and philosophers
might babble a lot in a crowd full of hungry listeners, or young changers of
the world. What to these people do after they leave the stage? Don’t be
surprised if some beat their wives up, or are pornography addicts or even eye
some hot chick on the road and think of having X-Ray vision!
Yes
these are bodily functions which should not be denied and why? Nature has made
us this way – the only way to survive! Then why taboo it and not accept the
truth that we are no different than horses, dogs and rabbits? We are just
another species who crawl on the surface of this earth and when time comes can
be evacuated even by one tsunami or a tornado!
People
make such a hue and cry about womanhood, feminism and Equality! Yet, the warrior
princess on TV (who is supposed to defy the stereotypical image of women) is
made to look like a skank with a voluptuous body. Why did “kurupa” have to
change to “Shurupa” to claim her love for Arjun in Tagore’s “Chitrangada”? Why
can’t she be loved for what she really is, irrespective of her appearance, just
as a person, not for her feminine body? If attraction is the prime need to
bring the man and the woman together and love is secondary then why as humans
do we make such an issue out of love? Is it that eternal and unworldly? Really?
Absence makes the heart go fonder – is it because the mental connection is
missing – or the body and mind is missing a very crucial combination of
hormonal release which was induced by a certain special one! Would Harry still
love and Sally if she didn’t look like Meg Ryan?
I
think we are dreamers and not thinkers. Most people aspire a lot and maybe
cannot achieve it in due course and hence establish a comfortable niche
comprising of an imaginary reality to fuel them and add meaning to their
fruitless, vain lives. The depictions of these lazy and dysfunctional minds
translate as “rules and traditions” of society which are never abided by or
practiced in reality. But are just mere ideals, which make us “look and feel”
smarter in our own twisted ways!
